I personally love everyday items that carry a sort of quirky wit—like a hat made of nacho-shaped books and a lemon-shaped keyring. The camping table with a bamboo top in our upcycling project today is decent-looking and functional in and of itself, but its wide margins are also a great canvas for our creativity. I want to update the look of this table by giving it a “fake” table runner that’s painted on.
I chose green and blue, my personal favorites, for this table-upcycling project. Specifically, I chose the paints named Poster Green and Cobalt that were made for painting on furniture.
I used the two colors to draw circles and create a Nordic-inspired table runner design.
The paints I used for this project are from Samhwa’s iLux Multi Eggshell collection, designed for application onto interior doors, furniture, trim, and kitchen counters. The paints in this collection have specially designed additives that make cleaning super easy, which in turn keeps the paint always looking fresh.
Samhwa’s iLux Multi Eggshell collection is also the first (and only) collection to have undergone clinical safety trials in South Korea. That simply means there’s no need to worry about these paints being detrimental to health, even when applied anywhere inside your home, including your kids’ bedrooms.
After painting my table and letting it dry completely, I took it to the beach and placed it in front of me as I sat down to relax. Hanging out in my camping chair, with just a book, a bag of munchies, and this new-looking table made me feel as though I were camping at an exotic new location.
Reading my book to the gently repeating sounds of the waves breaking on the shore put my mind at ease. It truly feels great to relax in nature, away from all the cares and worries of a busy life in the city.
What makes me really happy is that I can use this table inside my home as well. Just placing a warm mug of coffee and some dessert on it transforms my living room into a trendy café.
