Are your children spending too much time on their screens? Put some chalkboard paint on their walls and watch their creativity come out!
It’s rainy. It’s stormy. There’s pollution in the air. There are many reasons to keep energetic young minds at home these days, and as parents, we know what it feels like trying to keep our kids occupied. Why not let their creativity run wild…indoors? This can be as easy as simply putting some chalkboard paint on one wall of a child’s bedroom.
The versatility of chalkboard paint
Chalkboard paint can be painted on just about any flat surface to create your own chalkboard (after letting it dry completely). Paint it on a wall, a piece of furniture, or any other unused flat surface around you, and give yourself a chalkboard on which you can write and draw freely.
Paint some on the desk or drawing table in your child’s room for them to use. Then see what they come up with to write and draw. When they’re done, they can simply erase it away, just like you would with a chalkboard.
Here’s a suggestion for you. Why not use chalkboard paint to welcome a bit of spring into your home? Paint it onto some little plant pots so your children can plant some seedlings inside and write their names on the outside. They can write down the names of the plants they have planted, along with the dates. Your children now have something to look forward to—the growing and flowering of their plants!
Over 1,000 colors
From a collection of over 1,000 colors, it will be impossible not to find a color that perfectly matches your child’s personality. Particularly popular are the chalkboard paints in blueish tones, as blue is known to calm children and help them focus.
How to paint a chalkboard
Smoothen the surface.
Chalkboard paint is best applied to a flat and completely smooth surface. Sand the surface before applying the paint if necessary. If the surface remains uneven after the paint is applied, simply sand it again. If you need to paint a wide area, we recommend that you use a paint roller (sponge) or a paint pad.
Let it dry completely.
Chalkboard paints are functional paints. It can take up to three days for them to dry completely after they are applied to a surface. Make sure you give the painted surface enough time to dry so that you or your children can write on it and erase without smearing.
Children need creative outlets, particularly when the weather is bad outside and they are forced to spend time indoors. Use the chalkboard paint to bring out the best of their imagination and creativity. They will love doodling on it.
