Samhwa celebrated its 75th anniversary by renaming the 12 months of the year in native Korean and giving each their representative colors. The goal was to make colors that had typically been named with English and European-sounding names feel more familiar to Korean consumers, while also encouraging a growing interest in the native Korean language and its beautiful words.

Two-Tone Live: The evolution of colors with music
Not only did Samhwa introduce a new Korean name and colors for each month of the year, but the company also sought to convey the range of emotions and messages each color carries—through collaboration with the hottest K-pop artists today, who gladly provided their art and voices for music video clips posted by Samhwa TV, the company’s YouTube channel.
Each Two-Tone Live clip features a musician who performs a song (or two) live as an expression of the given colors of the month. These videos feature a wide range of Korean musicians and artists, from Bibi to Lilboi, Kwon Jin-ah to Sogumm. These performances effectively deliver the meanings of the Korean names and colors for the 12 months of the year, while hinting at the evolution of Samhwa and its dedication to paint.
Samhwa strives to enrich the artistic and cultural surroundings of everyday life with its colors and paints. Stay tuned and join us on our journey!
